The Israeli military conducted airstrikes on the western Shati and the eastern Tuffah neighborhood in Gaza, resulting in significant casualties, including children in a recent escalation.

According to preliminary reports from Gaza’s government officials, these attacks have claimed the lives of 42 Palestinians and injured many others.

The airstrikes specifically targeted civilian areas, with reports indicating 24 fatalities in the Shati and 18 in the Tuffah neighborhood.

Eyewitnesses described the scenes of devastation, noting that seven homes in the Shati were directly hit and destroyed, while another 20 homes suffered severe damage.

Following these attacks, the Israeli army defended its actions, stating on social media that the targeted areas in Gaza were used by Hamas for military purposes.

In contrast, Hamas condemned the airstrikes, accusing Israel of deliberately bombing residential areas and committing atrocities against vulnerable populations, including children, women and the elderly.

The situation has sparked international concern and calls for immediate de-escalation to prevent further civilian casualties and humanitarian crises in the region.
