Russia has targeted the country’s energy infrastructure in its attacks on different regions of Ukraine

One residential structure, comprising of 14 residences, and a vehicle were damaged due to falling debris from downed missiles in Kyiv Oblast. Power outages were also reported in the vicinity.

In Kirovohrad Oblast, Russian forces targeted the Oleksandriiskyi district, striking energy infrastructure, as declared by Governor Andrii Raikovych. An 8-year-old child was injured as a result of the attack. At least 13 residences and almost 30 storage spaces were damaged.

At approximately 5 a.m. local time, Russian forces targeted an energy infrastructure facility with cruise missiles in the Chervonohrad district of Lviv Oblast, as reported by Governor Maksym Kozytskyi. Another facility was also struck in the Stryi district.

A second attack by Russian forces on Lviv Oblast occurred around 6:30 a.m. local time, according to Kozytskyi. Russia conducted the strike using a Kinzhal hypersonic missile. There were no civilian casualties or damage to infrastructure reported.

The attacks commenced around 4:30 a.m. local time with multiple explosions reported in Zaporizhzhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Poltava Oblasts.

Missile and drone attacks by Russian forces have escalated in frequency and severity in recent months. Ukraine is facing a crucial shortage of air defense systems due to delays caused by Congress in approving U.S. military aid, allowing Russian forces to intensify their assaults on energy infrastructure.

Ukrainian authorities have cautioned that Russia is gearing up for an anticipated summer offensive, as Ukrainian ammunition and air defense resources dwindle.

President Volodymyr Zelensky has previously implored allies to furnish additional air defenses, stating that the failure to do so effectively grants Russia a “global license for terror.”

“We need air defense and other defense aid, not turning a blind eye and long discussions,” he said on his Telegram channel.
