Generation at risk: Gaza faces devastating future without cease-fire
UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini has issued a grave warning, stating that unless a cease-fire is promptly established in the Gaza Strip, an entire generation could be lost.
In a statement released via his official Twitter account, Lazzarini emphasized the devastating impact of conflicts and wars on children, underscoring that the situation in Gaza is particularly dire.
He expressed deep concern over the harrowing experiences children in Gaza are enduring, noting the significant loss of life, injuries and profound trauma faced by survivors.
Lazzarini also highlighted the destruction of schools in Gaza as a result of Israeli attacks, depriving children of a year’s worth of education and play.
Since Oct. 7, Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip have resulted in the deaths of at least 37,232 Palestinians, including 15,517 children and 10,279 women, with 85,037 individuals sustaining injuries.
