Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has disclosed the number of Syrians returning to Syria from Türkiye and the total number of refugees within Türkiye’s borders.

Yerlikaya stated that in 2023, 103,045 Syrians voluntarily returned to their country, bringing the total number of Syrians who have returned between 2016 and 2024 to 658,463.

The Minister also added that there are 3,114,099 Syrians under temporary protection in Türkiye.

Regarding foreigners granted residence permits, Yerlikaya announced that the number has reached 1,125,623. The number of foreigners living in Türkiye under international protection has reached 234,528.

Yerlikaya also touched upon the security measures against human trafficking, stating that within a year 191,450 illegal immigrants were prevented from crossing the border.

The Minister highlighted that Turkish security forces have conducted 7,599 operations against human trafficking, resulting in the detention of 12,386 individuals, the arrest of 4,493 individuals, and the imposition of judicial control measures on 1,793 individuals.
