The Turkish Competition Authority announced on Monday that it has fined Google approximately ₺482 million ($14.85 million) for failing to meet obligations related to hotel searches.

According to the authority, the fine was levied because Google failed to address the competition board’s concerns about fair competition with other local search engines.

The statement highlighted that Google had hindered its competitors’ ability to enter the local market, resulting in a distortion of competition within local search services and accommodation price comparison services.

It was noted Google was previously fined ₺296,084,899 in 2021 for violating the relevant article of the Law on the Protection of Competition.
