NATO’s Tiger Squadrons gather in Germany for 2024 meet
Tiger squadrons from across the globe have convened in Northern Germany for the prestigious NATO Tiger Meet 2024. This iconic international exercise, hosted at the home of Tactical Air Wing 51, sees over 60 aircraft from eleven NATO nations, demonstrating their prowess in a display of capabilities and interoperability.
Complex scenarios test tactics, techniques and procedures
The NATO Tiger Meet, a long-standing tradition organized annually by the NATO Tiger Association since 1960, provides a unique platform for Allied and Partner Tiger squadrons to train to NATO standards.
During the exercise, participants will engage in joint training with fixed and rotary wing platforms in a multi-domain context. The training aims to enhance flying skills and interoperability, offering a sophisticated multinational and joint training environment that challenges tactics, techniques and procedures through a series of complex scenarios.
A highlight of this year’s event is the involvement of a NATO Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) E-3A aircraft, which will operate out of Geilenkirchen, Germany, to control the Tiger jets during their training missions. This integration underscores the importance of the exercise at the tactical level, providing a critical opportunity for air forces to fine-tune war-fighting skills, increase readiness and enhance cooperation among multinational joint forces.
Some countries will participate by flying their jets from their respective home bases, while others will attend as visitors and observers.
This will showcase a diverse array of capabilities and foster an environment of shared learning and mutual support.
