During the AK Party’s Kizilcahamam camp, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar announced that Gabar has become Türkiye’s new oil capital, currently producing 43,380 barrels of oil per day. Bayraktar highlighted the goal to increase production to 100,000 barrels daily by the end of the year.

In his presentation, Minister Bayraktar detailed the latest developments in oil and natural gas exploration. The Gabar oil field, discovered in May 2021, currently operates with 40 wells. Additionally, he reported that Türkiye’s daily gas production in the Black Sea stands at 5.1 million cubic meters.

Bayraktar emphasized the priorities of reducing energy dependency, ensuring supply security, and achieving zero emissions by 2053. He stressed the importance of local and renewable energy, aiming to increase the share of these sources to 65% of total production by 2035.

Türkiye has made significant strides in renewable energy, ranking in the top five in Europe and eleventh globally in installed capacity. A new legislative measure to shorten lengthy permit processes for energy and mining investments is expected to be introduced in parliament soon.
