225 unlicensed guns seized, 2 suspects nabbed in massive firearm bust
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya Monday announced the seizure of 225 unlicensed firearms and the apprehension of two suspects during the “Mercek-20” operation in Konya.
Minister Yerlikaya stated on social media that the operation was coordinated by the General Directorate of Security’s Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Department, in collaboration with the Konya Police Department’s Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch.
According to Yerlikaya, a vehicle suspected of transporting firearms from illegal manufacturing workshops to eastern provinces was searched during the operation.
The search resulted in the seizure of 225 unlicensed handguns and the arrest of two suspects.
