Turkish Land Forces Commander Gen. Selcuk Bayraktaroglu receives the Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) award, the highest military decoration, from Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari
Turkish Land Forces Commander Gen. Selcuk Bayraktaroglu received the Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military), one of Pakistan’s highest military decorations, during a ceremony held on Monday at the President’s House in Islamabad.
Citing Bayraktaroglu’s exceptional achievements in fortifying defense ties between Türkiye and Pakistan, President Asif Ali Zardari gave the honor.
Foreign diplomats and high-ranking military personnel, including Pakistan’s Army Chief Gen. Asim Munir, attended the esteemed award ceremony, demonstrating the importance of the event in fostering mutual relations.
The Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) is the highest military medal in Pakistan and is awarded to foreign military commanders and meritorious servicemen who have excelled in promoting military cooperation.
The two countries’ mutual admiration is demonstrated by the awarding of this medal, which comes after Pakistan earlier this month recognized Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Metin Gurak with the same title.
President Zardari and Bayraktaroglu had conversations on defense cooperation while he was in town. Speaking about Pakistan’s pride in its relationship with Türkiye, President Zardari emphasized Türkiye’s steadfast support on important problems.
He underlined the significance of extending bilateral collaboration between Pakistan and Türkiye’s people in fields like agriculture, education, art, and culture in order to promote stronger relations than only defense.
Emphasizing the long-lasting relationship between the two nations, Zardari also praised President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his sincere friendship. Bayraktaroglu responded by restating Türkiye’s commitment to enhancing defense cooperation with Pakistan and emphasized the potential for both nations to make substantial contributions to regional peace and security.
