Turkish Foreign Ministry expresses concerns about the increasing tensions between Israel and Iran, citing Israel’s “attack violating international law” on Iran’s embassy in Damascus

The Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed worries on Monday in an official statement regarding the rising tensions between Israel and Iran and offered cautions about possible consequences for the stability of the region.

“We have consistently reminded all of our contacts about the potential for the conflict Israel is waging in Gaza to spread and intensify,” the statement adds, highlighting Türkiye’s continuous attempts to manage the unstable circumstances in the area.

What the Turkish government described as an “attack violating international law” by Israel on Iran’s Embassy in Damascus added fire to their concerns. Türkiye claims that this incident has validated their worries about the situation’s propensity to go out of hand.

The statement goes on to offer a clear picture of the rising tensions, saying, “The retaliation by Iran and the subsequent developments have once again demonstrated that events could rapidly evolve into a regional war.”

Türkiye has been diplomatically involved, advocating caution in talks with Iranian and US authorities before to the latest escalation. According to the statement, Türkiye attempted to maintain answers that were appropriate for the circumstances by acting as a channel for expectations and signals between the parties concerned.

Türkiye is demonstrating its proactive stance by publicly communicating with Iranian leaders and Western powers who have sway over Israel, urging them to halt the escalation.

The statement’s last words, “We will continue our efforts to prevent a process that could permanently destabilize the region and lead to larger global conflicts,” highlight Türkiye’s dedication to regional peace and stability.

The statement also indicates that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is regularly briefed on the developing situation and that events are being constantly watched in collaboration with pertinent Turkish organizations.
