56 suspected Daesh members arrested in simultaneous operations
Turkish police arrest 56 suspects linked to Daesh in coordinated operations. More than 1,000 operations have been conducted against Daesh since June 2023
Turkish authorities have announced the arrest of 56 individuals suspected of having links to the terrorist group Daesh. Coordinated operations were carried out on Tuesday in the southeastern province of Sanliurfa and the central province of Konya.
This latest operation is part of Türkiye’s comprehensive counterterrorism strategy, which has seen over a thousand operations targeting Daesh since June 1, 2023, resulting in the apprehension of more than 2,000 suspects.
These proactive measures come in response to a heightened threat level following a Daesh attack on an Italian church. This incident has prompted Türkiye to escalate its efforts against the terrorist group.
Türkiye, an early advocate of designating Daesh as a terrorist organization in 2013, continues to confront persistent threats from the group. Multiple attacks have resulted in the loss of over 300 lives and injuries to hundreds more.
Despite facing numerous challenges, including over 10 suicide bombings, seven bomb attacks and four armed assaults, Türkiye remains resolute in its commitment to safeguarding the peace, unity and security of its citizens and the global community.
The ongoing operations underscore Türkiye’s unwavering determination to combat terrorism and fulfill its responsibilities as a responsible member of the international community.
