Qatar-based news network Al Jazeera condemns Israel for attack on two of its reporters in Gaza, claiming it was a “full-fledged crime” and deliberate attempt to prevent them from covering the war

After an attack in Gaza severely injured two of its reporters, Qatar-based news network Al Jazeera spoke out against Israel on Tuesday, citing that reporter Ismail Abu Omar’s life is in danger, and cameraman Ahmad Matar was seriously injured in the event in Rafah, in the southern part of Gaza.

Al Jazeera called the attack a “full-fledged crime” and said that Israel did it on purpose to stop reporters from covering the war. According to a story from Al Jazeera that cited an emergency physician, Abu Omar lost his right leg in the drone strike while doctors worked hard to save his left leg.

The health ministry in Gaza, which is run by Hamas, said that an Israeli warplane hit the two reporters in the Moraj area. The United States expressed condolences to hear that the Al Jazeera journalists were injured. Matthew Miller, a spokeswoman for the State Department, stressed how important it was to protect media, recognizing their role in telling the truth amid dangerous circumstances.

Abu Omar and Matar are getting medical care at the European Hospital, on the southern edge of Khan Yunis City. However, the World Health Organization pointed out how dire the conditions were in the facility, saying that it was overcrowded and short on supplies because over 20,000 people were trying to seek shelter there.
