Call for end to Gaza conflict: 9,000 Pro-Palestinians protest in Brussels
Around 9,000 demonstrators in Brussels protest against Israel’s bombardment and ongoing Gaza conflict
Around 9,000 demonstrators took to the streets of Brussels on Sunday in a pro-Palestinian protest demanding an immediate halt to Israel’s intense bombardment and ongoing fighting in Gaza. The peaceful “Justice for Palestine” demonstration, which concluded in the EU district, saw participants passionately advocating for an end to the conflict.
The march coincided with a scheduled meeting on Monday where EU foreign ministers are set to engage with their Israeli, Palestinian, Egyptian, Saudi, and Jordanian counterparts to address the ongoing crisis in Gaza and the challenges faced by Palestinian civilians.
During the Brussels demonstration, chants of “stop genocide,” “Israel: terrorist,” and “free Gaza” echoed through the streets. Some protesters directed criticism towards the EU, shouting “EU, shame on you,” expressing dissatisfaction with what they perceive as insufficient action by Brussels to protect Palestinian civilians. Calls for a boycott on Israeli goods and businesses were also heard.
“We really need to unite against the genocide happening in Gaza and fight for an end to Israel’s occupation,” emphasized demonstrator Victor Dumont. Another protester, Bahija Dioure, stressed the impossibility of any people deserving such violence, regardless of their affiliation.
