Bursa hosts ‘Mexico Sectoral Trade Delegation’ to enhance Turkish automotive exports to Mexico, targeting a short-term increase exceeding $250 million

The “Mexico Sectoral Trade Delegation” program in Bursa aims to boost Turkish automotive companies’ exports to Mexico.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, the Uludag Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (OIB) organized a program that included meetings in Bursa, Istanbul and Konya for representatives of major Mexican importing companies.

OIB Chairperson of the Board Baran Celik, in his assessment included in the statement, mentioned that Turkish automotive companies exported $220 million to Mexico last year and expressed that with market studies, exports could exceed $250 million in the short term.

Celik noted that Mexico alone accounts for one-third of the regional exports and imports, with approximately 500 automotive companies and 10 automotive clusters in the country.

“Mexico imported nearly $50 billion worth of automotive products last year, primarily from the supply industry,” he said.

Highlighting that a significant portion of Mexico’s automotive imports come from the United States, Celik added: “China, Japan, Germany, Canada, India, South Korea and Brazil are other significant contributors to the country’s imports.

Türkiye is ranked 18th among Mexico’s automotive imports. In our $220 million export to Mexico, the supply industry leads with $125 million, followed by motor vehicles for transport with $60 million.

According to market studies, we can potentially exceed $250 million in exports in the short term. Our goal as an association is to establish good relations with the country’s leading buyers and provide many of our companies with new business opportunities to increase our exports in line with our targets.”
