Colombian president to receive Palestinian state honor after severing ties with Israel
Columbian Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo met with his Palestinian counterpart Riyad al-Maliki, as announced by the Colombian Foreign Ministry on its social media account.
“In the coming days, the State of Palestine will confer the Order of the State upon President Gustavo Petro, in recognition of his outstanding leadership in denouncing the severe war crimes and human rights violations perpetrated against the Palestinian people,” the statement said.
Colombia announced on May 3 that it had severed diplomatic relations with Israel due to Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip.
