Alperen Sengun’s 31-point double-double not enough as Warrior’s edge Rockets 109-106

Alperen Sengun scored 31 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, but the Houston Rockets fell short in Game 4 of their first-round playoff series, losing 109-106 to the Golden State Warriors on Sunday night.

The 22-year-old Turkish center played 42 minutes, adding 5 assists and 2 steals while shooting 12-of-28 from the field. Sengun had a chance to give Houston the lead in the final seconds, but his go-ahead attempt with seven seconds remaining missed.

Golden State, returning star Jimmy Butler led with 27 points and 6 assists. Brandin Podziemski contributed 26 points, and Stephen Curry added 17.

The Warriors now lead the best-of-seven series 3-1.

Fred VanVleet paced Houston with 25 points, while Amen Thompson added 17 points and 9 rebounds. Dillon Brooks finished with 11 points, and Jalen Green was limited to 8.

Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday, May 1, at 2:30 a.m. local time in Türkiye (TSI). The Rockets must win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
