Turkish intelligence neutralizes 2 PKK/KCK terrorists in Northern Iraq, thwarting their infiltration into Turkish military bases

According to security sources on Thursday, Turkish intelligence neutralized two PKK/KCK terrorists in Northern Iraq.

Identified as Ahmet Bayar, codenamed Tufan Kocer, and Ahmed Ibrahim El Ahmed, codenamed Mervan Zerevan, they were targeted in an operation in the Hakurk region.

Bayar, who joined the terror group in 2012, had operated in Syria previously and served as a bodyguard for senior organization members. El Ahmed had received assassination training in the Qandil region of Northern Iraq in 2014.

The PKK frequently uses Northern Iraq, close to the Turkish border, as a sanctuary to launch terrorist attacks against Türkiye. Designated as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the U.S. and the E.U., the PKK is responsible for the deaths of more than 40,000 people, including women, children and infants, in its nearly 40-year campaign of terror against Türkiye.
