The Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa has suspended operations for 20 days following recent earthquakes, university officials announced Friday.

The faculty will be relocated from its current location in Sisli to the Avcilar Campus due to earthquake risk concerns, according to a statement by Prof. Dr. Nuri Aydin, Rector of Cerrahpasa.

“The activities of Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing have been suspended for 20 days,” Aydin said. “The faculty will be moved to the Avcilar Campus due to earthquake risk.”

The decision comes in the wake of earthquakes that struck Istanbul on April 23, prompting officials to take precautionary measures for student and staff safety.

Aydin explained that while a planned relocation had been scheduled earlier: “Approximately two months ago, a decision was made to relocate the faculty in a planned manner. However, following the earthquakes on April 23, we have decided to expedite this decision.”

The faculty, which provides education to 1,537 students, will resume its educational activities on May 20, 2025, according to Aydin.
