Lima Bustami, Director of the Legal Department at the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor (Euro-Med), has stated that Israel is forcibly displacing Palestinians in Gaza under the cover of international silence, a process ongoing since Oct. 7, 2023.

Bustami said Israel has reached a critical phase in its campaign. “After 19 months of continued aggression, Israel is now pushing for mass deportation.

The aim is to make displacement the only option for survival,” she explained.

Bustami stressed that Israel is actively implementing a policy of forced mass displacement in Gaza and is exploiting the lack of global response.

She noted that around 2.3 million Palestinians are living amid widespread destruction and a suffocating blockade and added that Israel is using these dire conditions to pressure people to leave the region.

Ceasefire collapse: Israel resumes intense strikes on Gaza

The Israeli military resumed heavy airstrikes on Gaza on March 18, ending a cease-fire that had been in place since Jan. 19.

Since the renewed offensive, 1,928 Palestinians—mostly women, children, and the elderly—have been killed, and 5,055 have been injured by Israeli attacks.

According to health authorities in Gaza, the total number of Palestinians killed since Oct. 7, 2023, has risen to 51,305, with 117,096 wounded.
