Alperen Sengun scores 26 in playoff opener, Rockets falls to GSW 95-85

Türkiye’s rising star and NBA all-star Alperen Sengun delivered a standout performance in his first-ever playoff game, but it wasn’t enough to lift the Houston Rockets past the Golden State Warriors.
Despite Sengun’s 26-point, nine-rebound effort, the Rockets dropped Game 1 of their first-round series, 95–85.
The 21-year-old center played 36 minutes and stood out as the Rockets’ most efficient and consistent player on the floor.
His 26 points marked the highest scoring playoff debut for any center drafted in the 2000s — a historic feat that added weight to his already breakout season.
A lone bright spot for Rockets
While Sengun shouldered the offensive load, the rest of the Rockets struggled. Jalen Green had a forgettable night, going 3-for-15 from the field for just 7 points.
Fred VanVleet scored 10, while Dillon Brooks and Jabari Smith Jr. added 11 apiece.
Amen Thompson contributed eight points, nine rebounds, and six assists in a well-rounded performance, but the Rockets’ shooting woes proved costly.

Warriors’ depth proves decisive
The Warriors were led by Stephen Curry, who poured in 31 points. Jimmy Butler, acquired midseason, added 25 points, 6 assists, and 5 steals in a dynamic two-way effort.
Brandin Podziemski recorded 14 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, while Draymond Green provided veteran presence on both ends of the court.
With the win, GSW takes a 1–0 lead in the best-of-seven series. Game 2 is set to stay in Rockets before the series shifts to San Francisco.
