The ruling AK Party, under President and Chairman Erdogan, anticipates a significant shift as it gears up for a congress, paving the way for a revamped leadership lineup

The President and the chairman of Türkiye’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Recep Tayyip Erdogan hinted at significant changes in the party.

A new cadre is set to emerge as the party gears up for a congress, marking a departure from the current leadership structure.

It is anticipated that several deputy chairpersons will step down from their positions, with fresh appointments ushering in the congress proceedings.

‘Major party shuffle’

Sources within the AK Party have revealed that the upcoming congress will witness a revamped leadership lineup, reflecting Erdogan’s directive for change.

At least five deputy chairpersons are expected to relinquish their roles, paving the way for a new wave of leadership. Under the helm of the incoming management, the party administration is poised for a transformation.

The winds of change blowing through the AK Party aren’t confined to its internal dynamics only. Speculations abound regarding potential changes in the Cabinet and the bureaucratic landscape of the presidential complex.

Insights from AK Party circles suggest the overhaul may extend to the highest echelons of power, with adjustments envisaged in both governmental and presidential structures.

Furthermore, sources indicate deliberations within the presidential office aimed at streamlining advisory roles and policy committees. Plans are underway to reduce the number of chief advisors, reflecting a strategic shift in governance.

Additionally, modifications to the composition and function of policy committees are being explored, signaling broader changes in administrative matters.
