Uber Technologies, a U.S.-based transportation services company, is in talks with Türkiye’s leading food delivery platform, Trendyol Go, according to a report by business-focused Bloomberg on Thursday.

Bloomberg reported that the terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed, as negotiations are still ongoing. Representatives from both companies declined to comment.

Founded in 2010, Trendyol is one of Türkiye’s leading e-commerce platforms. As of 2024, the Chinese company Alibaba Group was the company’s largest shareholder, holding 70% of shares. Trendyol operates food and grocery delivery services under its Trendyol Go subsidiary. The company is also the main sponsor of the Turkish Super Lig, the country’s most-watched sports competition.

Initial entry into Turkish market disappointed

Uber first entered the Turkish market with its ride-hailing service in 2014, which drew significant backlash from taxi associations. In 2019, the company withdrew from the Turkish market after a court ruled to halt Uber’s transportation services in the country, imposing a ban on its apps on the grounds that the services violated transportation laws.

Founded in 2009, Uber Eats—Uber’s food delivery subsidiary—currently operates in around 45 countries and over 6,000 cities, generating $13.7 billion in revenue in 2024.
