Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has accepted an invitation from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to visit Türkiye for high-level strategic cooperation talks scheduled for May, according to a statement from the Iraqi Prime Minister’s Press Office.

The invitation was extended during al-Sudani’s meeting with Türkiye’s Ambassador to Baghdad, Anil Bora Inan.

“The Prime Minister expressed his pleasure in accepting the official invitation to participate in the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting to be held in Türkiye in May,” the statement said.

Iraq determined to maintain momentum in developing Türkiye relations

Al-Sudani emphasized his government’s determination to maintain momentum in developing relations with Türkiye across multiple sectors.

He has instructed officials to prepare documents related to security, water resources, industry, defense, energy, transportation, trade, and higher education.

The Iraqi leader noted that comprehensive cooperation in these areas would strengthen the mutual interests of both countries.
