Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announces ‘Mahzen-47’ operations dismantling an organized crime syndicate, arresting 51 suspects
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has announced the successful dismantling of an organized crime syndicate, led by Ismail Azar and Hamza Mutlu – in a series of operations codenamed “Mahzen-47” conducted across seven provinces – with Hatay at its center.
“In the ‘’Mahzen-47‘’ operations carried out in seven provinces centered in Hatay, an organized crime organization led by Ismail Azar and Hamza Mutlu was cracked down and 51 suspects were arrested,” Minister Yerlikaya stated.
According to Yerlikaya, investigations revealed a range of criminal activities, including “qualified fraud, forgery of official documents, bribery, illegal use of personal data, abuse of duty and violation of tax procedure law.”
The minister further detailed that the operations yielded unlicensed firearms, numerous powers of attorney, prescriptions, receipts and promissory notes believed to be connected to the crimes.
In his statement, Minister Yerlikaya emphasized a resolute stance against organized crime, affirming: “Those who perpetrate crimes and disrupt the peace of our people, including organized crime syndicates and gangs, will face the consequences of their actions. We are committed to dismantling and bringing to justice these criminal networks, regardless of their size.”
