Moldova thanks Türkiye for mediation efforts in Ukraine conflict

Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popsoi expressed gratitude for Türkiye’s role as a mediator in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war during his attendance at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.

“We are quite grateful to Türkiye for playing the role of mediator, peacemaker and facilitating dialogue between the parties,” Popsoi told Anadolu Agency in an interview at the NEST Congress Center in the Belek Tourism Region.

Highlighting the longstanding cooperation and economic ties between the two nations, Popsoi said, “We are pleased to have very strong bonds with Türkiye.”

Moldovan lauds positive relationship with Türkiye’s

The Moldovan official noted the positive relationship between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Moldovan President Maia Sandu. “I am extremely satisfied with the relationship between myself and my friend and counterpart, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan,” he added.

Addressing the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, Popsoi expressed confidence in Türkiye’s continued peace efforts.

“We trust that Türkiye will continue to contribute to peace. We hope that all our friends in Europe and across the Atlantic will bring the peace our region needs,” he said.

This marks Popsoi’s second attendance at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, where he remarked on the impressive international participation. “You have the opportunity to meet many people who would normally take years to meet and get to know, while also having our friends from Türkiye here, with whom we have very close relations,” he said.

Looking toward the future of bilateral relations, Popsoi emphasized the need to strengthen both political and economic ties.

“We need to strengthen not only the political bonds between the two countries but also the economic ones,” he stated, adding that he was eager to maintain close contact with his Turkish counterparts to enhance these connections.
