A private airline has introduced a helicopter taxi service connecting Türkiye with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), offering VIP transportation between the two regions.

The inaugural flight took off from Gazipasa-Alanya Airport in Antalya, located on the Turkish Mediterranean coast, and landed at Ercan Airport in Lefkosa, the capital of TRNC.

Among the passengers were Fikri Ataoglu, the TRNC’s deputy prime minister, and Public Works and Transport Minister Erhan Arikli.

Ataoglu emphasized that the service would strengthen ties between Türkiye and the TRNC, noting that the flights are designed for VIP use but may also expand to domestic routes.

Arikli added that the new initiative is aimed at easing travel between the two sides, with plans to introduce additional flights to southern Turkish cities, including Adana and Mersin, in the near future.
