Kosovo Assembly approves the ‘Military Framework Agreement’ signed between Türkiye and Kosovo on Jan. 29
The Kosovo Assembly officially endorsed the “Military Framework Agreement” signed between Türkiye and Kosovo on Jan. 29. This decision garnered support from both ruling and opposition lawmakers, marking a significant step in strengthening military cooperation between the two nations.
Presenting the agreement on the floor of the Assembly in the absence of Defense Minister Ejup Maqedonci, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development Faton Peci stated that the agreement entails cooperation in peacekeeping, humanitarian efforts and counterterrorism operations, among other areas.
Appealing for support to ratify the agreement in Parliament, Peci stated: “This agreement encompasses cooperation in various areas, including military training, industry and defense, military intelligence sharing, military medicine, peacekeeping, humanitarian operations, and counter-terrorism efforts. I call for a vote on this bill so that the agreement can be enacted in accordance with the provisions of the law on international agreements.”
The agreement received approval in the 120-seat Parliament, with 85 deputies from both ruling and opposition parties participating in the vote.
The Military Framework Agreement between Türkiye and Kosovo was signed in Ankara on Jan. 29 by Minister of National Defense Yasar Guler and Minister of Defense of Kosovo Ejup Maqedonci.
