Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan expressed his gratitude to Spain for its recent recognition of the State of Palestine during his diplomatic visits to Madrid and Prague on Thursday.

These visits coincide with the NATO Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Prague, which is scheduled to begin today and last two days.

In Madrid, Fidan, accompanied by the Contact Group, met with Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares to convey his appreciation.

Following their meeting, Minister Fidan, Minister Albares and members of the Contact Group held a joint press conference.

FM Fidan underscored his hope that Spain’s acknowledgment of Palestine would be a global example, urging other nations to follow suit. Minister Albares affirmed Spain’s commitment to halting the violence in Gaza, pledging vigorous efforts toward that end.

Fidan flew to Prague to attend the NATO Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. At this summit, Fidan will specifically demand the lifting of embargoes applied in the defense industry among NATO member countries.

He will emphasize that these hindrances only damage individual deterrence and defense efforts and capacities.

The second agenda on Fidan’s list is counter-terrorism. He will convey the expectations of allied countries regarding the fight against terrorist organizations, especially PKK, calling for an immediate end to any interest-based partnerships with terrorist organizations.
