Türkiye’s Capital Markets Board (CMB) has authorized the creation of a new brokerage firm, Barclays Securities Inc., wholly owned by international financial giant Barclays Bank PLC.

The decision was announced in the CMB’s weekly bulletin, confirming that the Board had approved the establishment of Barclays Securities Inc., fully owned and controlled by Barclays Bank PLC.

Analysts highlighted that the CMB had previously taken steps to encourage the creation of new brokerage firms, viewing Barclays’ renewed interest in Türkiye after a lengthy hiatus as a positive signal for the market.

The CMB had earlier approved the formation of two other brokerage firms owned by Türkiye’s leading banks, Aktif Bank Inc. and Fibabanka Inc.
