Major fire at Uludag ski resort in Türkiye: Casualities reported

A fire broke out at a hotel in the Uludag district of Bursa, quickly engulfing the building.

Multiple firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene. Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey had nnounced that one person lost their life, while four others were rescued.

However, Turkish media reported that two people lost their lives in the fire.

According to the reports, former national skier Yahya Usta (57) and his son national skier Berkin Usta (25) died as a result of the fire.

Among the 12 hotel staff inside, nine managed to escape, while three were hospitalized with smoke inhalation and remained unconscious.

The Kervansaray Hotel issued a statement confirming that the fire started outside in a veranda area for unknown reasons before spreading to the hotel. The statement assured that authorities were informed and updates would continue.
