Türkiye reaffirms commitment to combating Islamophobia

Türkiye has reiterated its commitment to supporting initiatives against Islamophobia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Saturday, marking the International Day to Combat Islamophobia.
In a written statement, the ministry commemorated the sixth anniversary of the Christchurch terror attack in New Zealand, which claimed 51 lives, including one Turkish citizen.
“On the sixth anniversary of the heinous terrorist attack that occurred in Christchurch, New Zealand, on 15 March 2019, we solemnly honor the memory of the 51 innocent lives lost, including one Turkish citizen, and wish Allah’s mercy upon them,” the statement read.

Türkiye urges stronger global efforts against Islamophobia
The ministry emphasized Islamophobia is not only a threat to Muslim communities but also poses significant risks to global peace and social harmony.
“Islamophobia not only endangers Muslim communities but also poses a significant threat to global peace and social harmony. The ongoing attacks on Islamic values underscore the need for the international community to intensify its efforts to combat hatred against Islam,” the statement added.

Türkiye’s stand against anti-Islam sentiment
Türkiye reaffirmed its commitment to countering Islamophobia worldwide, stating, that “Türkiye remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting all initiatives aimed at addressing hatred against Islam.”
