Thousands protest near the White House and across central London against Israeli military actions in Gaza as protesters demand a ceasefire, lifting of blockades on Gaza and sanctions against Israel

In a global day of protest, thousands gathered near the White House and across central London on Saturday, voicing opposition to Israeli military actions in Gaza.

Demonstrators in Washington, D.C., openly criticized U.S. President Joe Biden for his support of Israel during the 100-day conflict with Hamas. Signs with messages such as “No votes for Genocide Joe” and “Biden has blood on his hands” were prominent, reflecting growing discontent among some American voters.

At the same time, London’s streets witnessed a unique display of solidarity with the Palestinian cause. A significant highlight was the presence of Little Amal, an 11.5-foot puppet symbolizing the plight of children in conflict zones. Originally created to represent Syrian refugee children, Little Amal has now become a broader emblem of human rights.

The London march, significantly focusing on the impact of the conflict on children, coincided with other European demonstrations in cities like Paris, Rome, and Dublin. Protesters called for an immediate ceasefire, the lifting of blockades on Gaza, and sanctions against Israel.

In the U.S., the diverse crowd included individuals like Dan Devries from New York, expressing support for a free Gaza but disillusioned with the current political choices.
