4.8 magnitude earthquake hits near Türkiye-Iraq border

A 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck near the Türkiye-Iraq border, with tremors felt in Türkiye’s Hakkari, Sirnak, and Van.

According to Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), the earthquake occurred 8 kilometers from Yuksekova district.

Hakkari Governor and Deputy Mayor Ali Celik shared on his social media account that the earthquake was felt in all districts.

Celik stated, “According to preliminary information, no serious issues have been reported or detected in our district centers and villages. However, our teams have been assigned to carry out thorough checks in all settlements, including villages. Get well soon, and may Allah protect our city and country from all disasters.”
