E. Jean Carroll gives testimony in Trump trial to reclaim her reputation

E. Jean Carroll appeared as a witness on Wednesday in her defamation case against Donald Trump, marking the first courtroom encounter with the former president

The leading Republican candidate returned to New York Tuesday after speaking at a campaign rally alongside biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy in New Hampshire.

According to Daily Mail, some “mysterious red cuts” were seen on Trump’s hand.

On Tuesday, Trump said that his accuser had gained fame and money through “fabricated lies and political shenanigans” in the case.

“I am the only one injured by this attempted EXTORTION,” he wrote on his social media account.

While Trump was present, E. Jean Carroll testified in a New York court, stating that Trump severely damaged her reputation by falsely denying sexually assaulting her and labeling her as a “wack job.”

In response to her lawyer Roberta Kaplan’s question about her presence in court, Carroll asserted: “Donald Trump assaulted me, and when I wrote about it, he said it never happened. He lied and shattered my reputation,” as reported by NBC News.

Trump locked eyes with Carroll as she expressed her wish to prevent the former president “from spreading falsehoods about me.”

Observers noted him shaking his head, grimacing and engaging in hushed conversations with his attorney.

Carroll, who received a $5 million damages award from a New York jury last year, affirmed that she was sexually assaulted by the 77-year-old former president in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room during the 1990s.

The statements Trump made about her during his presidency form the basis for the ongoing trial.

Facing online threats and being labeled a ‘liar’ by Trump, Carroll shared she anticipated a response from him when excerpts from her book, which detailed Trump’s assault, were published in New York Magazine in 2019.

She expected Trump to deny the allegations and assert they were consensual, a claim vehemently refuted by the accuser.
