Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Fabian Hurzeler has provided an update on Ferdi Kadioglu’s condition following his injury in the match against Liverpool.

While speculation suggested that the Turkish international might miss the rest of the season, Hurzeler remains cautiously optimistic.

Small light at end of tunnel

Speaking to the British press, Hurzeler addressed Kadioglu’s rehabilitation process.

“I can see a small light at the end of the tunnel. A few weeks ago, I had hoped for more progress, but there is still a chance for him to return this season,” he said.

The German coach also highlighted the defender’s dedication to recovery, emphasizing that he is working extremely hard to regain match fitness.

A major transfer from Fenerbahce to Brighton

Kadioglu’s move to the Premier League was one of the most talked-about transfers at the start of the season.

The 24-year-old full-back joined Brighton from Fenerbahce for a reported €30 million ($32.5 million), making an immediate impact with his versatility and dynamic performances.

However, his promising debut season was interrupted by an injury sustained against Liverpool, later diagnosed as a capsular tear in the joint of his left big toe. Initially, club doctors opted for a non-surgical approach, but when the healing process stalled, surgery became necessary.

While his recovery timeline remains uncertain, Hurzeler’s comments suggest that Kadioglu could still feature before the end of the season—if all goes well in the coming weeks.
