Türkiye rescues 38 irregular migrants, recovers 4 bodies in Aegean sea
The Turkish Coast Guard Command carries out a mission to rescue 38 irregular migrants along the Mugla coastline
Turkish Coast Guard Command conducted a rescue operation, saving 38 irregular migrants near the coast of Mugla in the Aegean province.
The coast guards in a statement said a group of irregular migrants near the Datca district was reported to be in a rubber boat and had requested help. A small vessel was then dispatched to the area.
Upon arrival, the teams rescued 28 migrants and detained two suspected human smugglers.
Meanwhile, a helicopter, ship, and 4 search and rescue boats were mobilized soon after the incident.
The teams successfully rescued 10 irregular migrants on the surface, while the bodies of 4 others were recovered.
