Türkiye, Jordan, Syria and Iraq to hold high-level security meeting in Amman

High-level delegations from Türkiye, Jordan, Syria, and Iraq will convene in Amman on Sunday to discuss security cooperation and regional developments, according to Turkish diplomatic sources.
Last month, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that the four countries would take steps toward jointly combating Daesh terrorist group in the region, with Jordan hosting the first meeting on the issue.
Bilateral and regional security cooperation
According to diplomatic sources, Fidan will be joined by Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler and National Intelligence Organization (MIT) chief Ibrahim Kalin at the talks.
Their counterparts from Jordan, Iraq, and Syria—including foreign and defense ministers, along with military chiefs and intelligence heads—are also expected to attend.

Jordan to host multilateral security talks
Jordan will host the high-profile discussions, focusing on:
- Security collaboration
- Counterterrorism efforts
- Combating organized crime
- Regional political developments
Since the removal of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in December, Western and regional countries have warned of a possible resurgence of Daesh.
Thousands of Daesh terrorists remain in prison camps in northeast Syria under the guard of the U.S.-backed SDF, the Syrian offshoot of terrorist organization PKK. Ankara has insisted that these prisons must be handed over to Syria’s new leadership and that the YPG should disarm.
