As Galatasaray continues its title race in the Turkish Super League, the club has set its sights on Olympiakos’ young goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis as a potential replacement for veteran shot-stopper Fernando Muslera, whose recent performances have drawn criticism.

According to Turkish media reports, the Istanbul club has opened talks with Olympiakos over the transfer of Tzolakis as it seeks a long-term successor to Muslera.

The Greek side has reportedly demanded a €10 million ($10.83 million) transfer fee for the 22-year-old goalkeeper, with negotiations still ongoing.

Tzolakis has made 33 appearances across all competitions for Olympiakos this season, keeping 18 clean sheets. The young keeper gained widespread recognition last season for his outstanding saves, particularly during the UEFA Conference League clash against Galatasaray’s arch rival Fenerbahce, where he played a crucial role both in regular time and the penalty shootout.

Galatasaray fans question Muslera’s form

Fernando Muslera, who has been at the heart of Galatasaray’s title-winning campaigns, continues to face scrutiny over his recent form. The Uruguayan goalkeeper has conceded eight goals in his last five appearances, while Galatasaray has drawn its last four matches.

Having played 33 matches this season and conceded 48 goals, Muslera was heavily criticized following Galatasaray’s recent 3-3 draw against Kasımpasa.

The 37-year-old is expected to leave the club at the end of the season after winning six league titles with the Turkish giants.

Galatasaray’s transfer list reportedly includes former goalkeeper, Barcelona’s Spanish shot-stopper Inaki Pena, and Romania’s Stefan Tarnovanu from Steaua Bucharest as alternatives to Tzolakis.
