Iran, Israel uncomfortable with Türkiye’s anti-terrorism process: Report

Türkiye’s ongoing efforts to end terrorism are being closely watched by Iran and Israel, as both nations are reportedly unsettled by the process, according to government sources speaking to Türkiye Daily.
Turkish authorities are taking precautionary measures to prevent any potential provocations or interference.
Türkiye’s strategy against terrorism
Government officials have confirmed that Türkiye is committed to the “Terror-Free Türkiye” initiative, which aims to bring a definitive end to PKK terrorism.
The process, initiated by Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahceli and supported by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has reached a critical stage.
The ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and high-level security officials have noted that multiple countries now recognize the necessity of eliminating PKK terrorism.
However, sources claim that some nations, particularly Iran and Israel, view the region’s instability as beneficial to their interests. “Some countries are uncomfortable with this process. There are nations that believe the region’s instability serves their strategic goals, and Iran and Israel are among them,” an official stated.

Türkiye’s ‘red lines’ in the process
Authorities have emphasized that Türkiye will not negotiate on fundamental constitutional principles, and the first four articles of the constitution will remain off-limits.
Additionally, steps are being taken to prevent any political manipulation or provocation involving the families of martyrs and veterans. The dissolution process of the PKK is expected to be completed swiftly without any unnecessary delays.
According to sources, the state is coordinating efforts to counter any sabotage attempts, both on the ground and through diplomatic channels. Turkish intelligence agencies, along with security forces, are closely monitoring potential foreign interventions that could disrupt the process.

Transparency and public communication
To prevent misinformation, AK Party is implementing a strategy to ensure transparency in the process. President Erdogan has instructed all relevant ministries to engage in clear public communication.
The government aims to reassure the public that the initiative is focused solely on ending terrorism and enhancing democratic standards. Officials have reiterated that there will be no amnesty for Abdullah Ocalan, the imprisoned PKK ringleader.
While Türkiye remains firm on eliminating terrorism, the government is also working on expanding the space for civil politics, with the goal of strengthening democratic institutions in the post-terrorism era.
Officials stress that the priority is national security and public order, and any attempts at destabilization will be met with strict countermeasures.
