Ekrem Imamoglu, the mayor of Istanbul and a leading candidate for presidency under the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), recently made significant remarks about his preparations for the upcoming elections.

Imamoglu emphasized that the presidential election process is not just about winning but also about changing Türkiye’s current system.

He stressed the importance of “vatan” (homeland) and “ozgurluk” (freedom) as the key principles driving his campaign and rejected the idea that such a transformation could be achieved in just a few months.

He also pointed out that his main political opponent is President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and he believes the entire process is aimed at creating a revolution, not just winning an election.
