Türkiye’s legendary singer Edip Akbayram dies at 75

Türkiye‘s legendary musician Edip Akbayram has passed away at the age of 75.
He had been receiving treatment for pneumonia in recent weeks and was hospitalized in intensive care after suffering internal bleeding due to a minor accident at home.
Legendary artist had been receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of Haydarpasa Numune Training and Research Hospital due to internal bleeding following pneumonia treatment. It was later confirmed that the master artist had passed away.
Istanbul Provincial Health Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Emre Guner shared on his social media account: “Edip Akbayram, one of the valuable artists of our country, lost his life despite all medical interventions at Haydarpasa Numune Training and Research Hospital, where he had been treated for nearly two months.”
“He received the most advanced care and treatment from our medical teams, but unfortunately, he could not be saved despite all efforts. We wish Allah’s mercy to the deceased and our condolences to his family, his loved ones, and the art community,” he added.

Who is Edip Akbayram?
Akbayram was a renowned Turkish musician known for blending Anatolian folk music with rock and psychedelic influences.
He rose to fame in the 1970s with his band “Dostlar,” creating socially conscious songs that resonated with the working class and youth.
His music often carried political and protest themes, leading to government censorship during the military coups in Türkiye.
Despite restrictions, he remained a beloved figure in Turkish music, releasing numerous albums and continuing to perform for decades.
