Project to preserve Anatolia’s cultural heritage

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ugur Ibrahim Altay expressed in a written statement that the municipality continues to lead projects in support of preserving history and promoting eco-tourism.

“The historical caravan route serves as a bridge that preserves Anatolia’s cultural memory. By combining this route, shaped by the vision of the Seljuks, with sustainable tourism, we aim to contribute to the economy of our region and leave a legacy for future generations,” Altay stated.

The route will provide an exceptional experience for trekkers, history enthusiasts, and photographers, making a significant contribution to regional tourism.

Signs are being installed along the route, with the first promotional walks set to begin in April.

Historical significance of the Keykubad Route

Professor Hasan Bahar, a faculty member of the History Department at Selcuk University, highlighted the importance of the route, stating that Sultan Alaaddin Keykubad had two capitals: Konya and Alanya.

“We wanted to share this route with people beyond conference halls. The route contains historical roads from the Hellenistic period and the Roman era. I recommend people walk this new route,” Bahar added.
