Turkish, Spanish air forces display solidarity in joint Hurjet flight

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) shared a video on Wednesday showcasing two Hurjets, a trainer fighter jet developed by TAI, being flown side by side by a commander from the Turkish Air Force and a commander from the Spanish Air Force.
TAI wrote on its post, “Our Air Force Commander General Ziya Cemal Kadioglu performed a formation flight together with Spanish Air Force Commander General Francisco Braco Carbo. With each new flight, we not only raise our goals higher but also write history with our star-and-crescent wings in the blue expanses of the Sky Homeland.”
Spain already holds an MoU with
On December 20, 2024, Türkiye and Spain signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the Hurjet Trainer Aircraft project. This followed a successful demonstration flight of the Hurjet for the Spanish Air Force, further enhancing defense relations between the NATO allies and signaling Spain’s interest in acquiring TAI’s Hurjet.
According to defense analysts, Spain plans to replace its aging fleet of F-5 aircraft with 24 Hurjets.
The potential deal has generated significant interest in defense circles. Hurjet is also positioned itself as a competitor to other advanced jet trainers in short time, including the Boeing T-7, KAI T-50, and Leonardo M-346.
