A heavy snowfall transformed Türkiye into a winter wonderland last week, shutting down transportation and schools while inspiring residents to create incredible snow sculptures.

From adorable animal figures to comical and uncanny human-like creations, social media was flooded with images of snowmen and snowwomen unlike any seen before.

Let’s have a look at some of the most creative and original snowpeople and sculptures that emerged across Türkiye during this winter storm.

Funny upside-down snow sculptures were a hit in Türkiye

Why settle for ordinary snowmen when you can flip things upside down? These two headstand snowpeople defy gravity, complete with boots and scarves, to add an extra level of charm and humor.

Snowpeople are not just for standing around! Some sculptors turned their creations into interactive scenes, such as playful rabbits swinging on playground swings and another rabbit playfully climbing a pole.

Türkiye’s snowfall also inspired some truly unique and humorous designs. Not all snow sculptures are cheerful—some carry an air of mystery. This snow figure, sitting with folded arms and a stern expression, looks like it has something serious on its mind. Perhaps it’s contemplating the snowfall that made its creation possible?

Lifelike snow dog became hit in Türkiye

One of the most impressive illusions comes from this pairing of a real dog with its snow-made counterpart. With just the right shaping, the snow dog looks like a perfect companion for the furry friend sitting beside it.

While Türkiye struggled with transportation chaos, road closures, and school shutdowns due to the storm, people still found ways to bring joy to the snowy landscape.

The snowstorm, which left certain regions with up to 40 centimeters (15 inches) of snow, clearly led to rare scenes of daily life, paused as communities turned to creative expression.
