Türkiye and Ukraine have accelerated discussions on post-war reconstruction, with Turkish companies set to participate in infrastructure projects.

Ukrainian authorities have shared a project dossier with Turkish officials, and tenders for urgent initiatives will take place in April and May 2025 according to a report by Türkiye daily.

Bilateral meetings focus on reconstruction

Officials from the Turkish Embassy in Kyiv and Ukraine’s State Agency for Infrastructure Development and Renewal, operating under the Ministry of Communities and Territorial Development, reportedly met to discuss ongoing Turkish-led projects and future cooperation.

Ukrainian representatives reportedly confirmed that planning for the country’s reconstruction is underway. Some urgent projects are reportedly expected to go to tender in April and May, while additional large-scale initiatives are scheduled for 2025.

Key infrastructure projects planned

One of Ukraine’s top priorities is upgrading its road infrastructure and border crossings. Plans include:

  • Renovation of existing border checkpoints
  • Construction of new border facilities
  • Implementation of a nationwide toll road system

Ukrainian officials stated that tenders for these projects are anticipated in 2025.

Energy, housing, and water supply initiatives

In addition to transport projects, the Ukrainian delegation provided Turkish officials with a dossier outlining other priority areas for 2025. These include:

  • Energy and energy efficiency projects
  • Social housing initiatives
  • Water supply projects

Erdogan and Zelenskyy discussed reconstruction in Ankara

The discussions follow a recent meeting in Ankara between President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

During the talks, Erdogan highlighted Türkiye’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s rebuilding efforts.

“With the establishment of peace in Ukraine, I sincerely believe that our relations will reach an even higher level befitting our strategic partnership,” Erdogan stated.
