Security forces apprehend 36 irregular migrants in Kirklareli, Edirne

Turkish security forces apprehended a total of 36 irregular migrants in Kirklareli and Edirne as part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal migration.

In Kirklareli, the Provincial Gendarmerie Command and Provincial Police Department conducted inspections near the Derekoy border gate, where gendarmerie teams captured nine migrants attempting to cross into Bulgaria.

Additionally, police teams detained three irregular migrants in the city center. The individuals were transferred to the Pehlivankoy Repatriation Center after processing.

Meanwhile, in Edirne, security forces carried out identity checks across the city, leading to the apprehension of 24 irregular migrants from Afghanistan, Syria, Pakistan and Iraq. The migrants were handed over to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for further procedures.

Authorities continue to intensify inspections to prevent irregular migration in border provinces.
