Indian police release suspected Chinese spy pigeon after eight months in custody

An Indian pigeon, which had been under police custody for eight months on suspicions of being a Chinese spy, has been released after being cleared of any wrongdoing. 

The bird was initially apprehended at a port in Mumbai with “messages written in a Chinese-like script” on its wings, leading to a case of alleged spying. 

The pigeon, which had been housed at a city hospital during the investigation, was granted formal permission for release, and local reports indicate it flew away in good health.

This incident is not the first time Indian authorities have detained pigeons on suspicion of espionage. In 2016, border security officers apprehended a pigeon carrying a threatening message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi near the border with Pakistan.

The release of the pigeon underscores the importance of thorough investigations and the need to reassess allegations based on evidence.
