The Kremlin expressed strong support Thursday for U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent statements urging Ukraine to swiftly end its conflict with Russia, highlighting growing alignment between Moscow and the U.S. president on the war.

“We absolutely agree with the American administration,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists, specifically praising Trump’s stance that peace should be established “through negotiations.”

The endorsement from Moscow came after Trump launched a sharp critique of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whom he labeled a “dictator” in a social media post-Wednesday.

Trump’s comments, which echoed several Kremlin positions in the conflict, have intensified concerns among European allies.

EU officials said “Ukraine a democracy, Putin’s Russia not”, after Trump’s comments.

In a significant diplomatic development, Peskov also announced plans to resume comprehensive U.S.-Russia dialogue following recent talks between officials from both nations in Saudi Arabia.

“It was decided to start resuming Russian-American dialogue on all parameters,” including prisoner exchanges, he said.

Trump’s return to office has marked a dramatic shift in U.S. foreign policy. He has departed from his predecessor Joe Biden’s approach of isolating Russia, instead conditioning support for Ukraine on access to its rare minerals. This policy realignment has already begun reshaping the dynamics of U.S. involvement in the conflict.
