The first-ever Turkish language course for military personnel in Cameroon has officially started, organized by Türkiye’s Maarif Foundation.

During the opening ceremony, both the Minister of Defense of Cameroon, Joseph Beti Assomo and Türkiye’s Ambassador Volkan Oskioer highlighted the importance of this training in strengthening the partnership between the two countries.

‘This is the just beginning’

In his speech, Ambassador Oskiper stressed the significance of the first Turkish language course for Cameroonian armed forces personnel, stating: “This is just the beginning.”

He emphasized the collaboration between the two countries would continue to expand across various fields.

He also mentioned that soldiers who receive Turkish language training in Cameroon would later have the opportunity to participate in courses in Türkiye, further enhancing the exchange between the nations.

‘Classroom to contribute to our relations’

Minister Assomo also addressed the attendees, noting Türkiye’s growing influence in Africa.

He stated, “Türkiye is an increasingly powerful partner in Africa,” and acknowledged that Türkiye’s dynamic progress in the region is offering new opportunities for regional partnerships.

Assomo highlighted that the classroom initiative would play a significant role in strengthening the relations between Cameroon and Türkiye.

“The Turkish language training will also contribute to the intellectual development of military personnel,” he added.
