Kyrgyzstan seeks Türkiye’s medical expertise for victims of a devastating power plant explosion in Bishkek

Two individuals were critically injured in a tragic industrial incident at the Central Heat and Power Plant in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Following an agreement between the Kyrgyz and Turkish health authorities, these victims are now being transferred to Türkiye for specialized medical treatment.

The explosion occurred at the plant responsible for providing heating services to homes in Bishkek.

It happened in the early hours of the morning, injuring five people, two of whom suffered severe injuries. The cause of the explosion remains unknown.

Responding to Kyrgyzstan’s request for assistance, the Turkish Ministry of Health dispatched doctors Ethem Ozturk and Engin Cetin from the Kocaeli Golcuk Necati Celik State Hospital to Bishkek.

Upon their arrival, the Turkish medical team, in consultation with Kyrgyz Health Minister Alimkadır Beysenaliyev, assessed the condition of the injured and the ongoing treatment at the local facility.

Doctor Ethem Ozturk reported that two of the injured were in serious condition but were conscious, responsive and capable of answering questions.

Given the severity of their burns and the anticipated length of the treatment process, it was decided that transferring the patients to a specialized hospital in Türkiye would be more effective.
